This tour is truly a scenic delight and a must for all food and wine lovers! It passes through the picture postcard villages of Westbury and Deloraine.
There is some world class produce available all through this area. We drop in at Tasmanian Pure Continental Smallgoods, one of Tasmania’s most awarded smallgoods producers. Taste the international gold medal winning Salami! (We will not tell you what it is made out of. You will need to taste it to find out!) There is also the opportunity to purchase products at wholesale prices.
Our next stop is 41 degrees South Salmon Farm and Eco Experience. Taste or purchase what is arguably the best smoked salmon in Tasmania and associated salmon products. You can take a self- guided tour of the fresh water salmon ponds and the ginseng fields or take a walk along the boardwalk through the farm’s wetlands.
Then we drop in to the small but charming cellar door of the Three Willows Vineyard. Meet Phillip the winemaker and taste or purchase his small selection of hand-made wines.
To further the gourmet food experience, we drop in at the award winning Ashgrove Cheese Farm. Here you can taste unique cheeses with great flavours, including the famous Wild Wasabi cheese, all made with local ingredients. You can also view the cheese making and purchase a large range of other gourmet food and wine products from the Ashgrove Shop.
After this we travel to the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm. This is one place where you can taste, feast and buy some truly delectable wholesome country style food. You can relax and purchase your lunch and indulge in some of their delicious raspberry products, such as chocolate dipped raspberries, or rich creamy raspberry ice cream
Tasmania is Australia’s oldest producing wine region and the Tamar Valley Wine Region is the oldest in Tasmania! The area is home to some of Australia’s best and award winning Sparkling wines, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Chardonnay.
Many of these wineries or vineyards are only a stone’s throw away from the Tamar River, which meanders from the magnificent city of Launceston, creating a fertile valley of beautiful and rich contrasts on its journey to the sea.
After lunch we will take you to a selection of boutique wineries where you can sample some of the best wines which place this stunning area of natural beauty on the wine lover’s map. Each winery is unique in its character and location, and display the diversity of our cool climate wines.
The wineries we visit are open for tastings and of course cellar door sales. Be prepared to meet the owners or winemakers who love to share with you their own unique story.
